Boston Consulting Group (BCG) Back to Sponsors Listing

The Boston Consulting Group's global reputation in top management consulting derives from more than forty years experience helping senior managers discover and achieve their companies' full potential. Our mission is to help our clients attain unparalleled success by capitalizing on key opportunities for growth and improvement. We work closely with each client to help set direction, gain organizational, and operational challenges.

Founded in 1963, The Boston Consulting Group now has more than 4,500 consultants based in 66 offices worldwide. Our North American offices are in Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Detroit, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, Minneapolis, New Jersey, New York, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Toronto and Washington, D.C. Our international offices are in the major business centers of South America, Europe, Eastern Europe, Asia, and Australia.

BCG's clients are the world's business leaders. From computers to retailing, our professional expertise spans over 50 industries. The vast majority of our clients rank among the 500 largest companies in each of our four major locations: North America, Latin America, Europe, and Asia. In addition, we work with a number of public and private medium-sized companies and smaller, growing firms.

The success of our assignments has typically led our clients to maintain long-term relationships with us. Over 90 percent of our top 50 clients continue to work with us from one year to the next, to maintain the momentum for change and to increase further the bottom-line results they have achieved with our help.

We work in teams of four to six people on projects or "cases" for our clients. Each case is organized around some strategic business issue or issues faced by the client and lasts about three-to-nine months. BCG works with senior management levels within client corporations to answer questions like:

  • What is the competitive situation in the client's industry and what are the market opportunities for the client?
  • Can the client improve the way its operations are done by changing its internal functions and processes?
  • How best can the client serve its customers?

BCG's work is based on rigorous analysis and creative thinking. BCG's people are highly motivated, well educated, and hard working. Many people who do well at BCG have had quantitative coursework but have graduated with diverse majors ranging from the analytical to the liberal arts.

We believe that no other consulting organization has concentrated as thoroughly on understanding business competition and helping companies make the changes needed to succeed in increasingly competitive markets.
